As a warehouse volunteer, you will be assisting Oxfam’s Festival Shop logistics operation in Oxfam’s Northern Logistics Centre in Batley. Helping the team prepare for their busy summer festival season and off-season pop-up shops and events. Contributing to raising vital funds to support people facing poverty around the world.
About this role
The Oxfam Festival Shop is a touring pop-up shop that takes tonnes of stock and various equipment around the country each year. Including to Glastonbury, Boomtown, and Leeds Festival. Raising necessary income to contribute to Oxfam’s global work to eradicate poverty. You will help the team weigh, record, and safely store stock ready to be loaded onto wagons and transported to festivals and events. Learning and implementing the warehouse processes and systems. As a warehouse volunteer, you will also help organise equipment ready for use at a range of events. For example, checking all rails to make sure they are in working order before storing them safely ready for the next event. This may lead to you fixing equipment that has been damaged. There will be an opportunity for you to contribute ideas to the warehouse operation to help continual improvements. You will gain skills and experience in logistics, specifically around festivals and events, perfect to add to your CV. We will give you all the training and support you need so you will develop your skills as part of our team. Although, having a health and safety focus, strong communication skills and creative and methodical thinking are desirable for this role. A sustainable approach is also necessary. You can also get some lunch and travel costs too. Whatever you need, we’re here to help.

After you apply the volunteer coordinator may ask you to come in for an initial chat. This is not an interview, just a chance to get an idea of what we do. From there you will complete a volunteering induction, meet the rest of the volunteer team, and begin getting involved!
