Join the Oxfam community

Would you like to take on a cashmere project of your own? Are you someone who is interested in sustainability and can bring life back to a luxury material? Then we would love to hear from you! Best of all, you’ll be raising vital funds to support people facing poverty around the world.

About this role

The Oxfam Festival Shop is a touring pop-up shop based at Oxfam’s Northern Logistics Centre in Batley, when not at festivals and events. Cashmere is a luxury material sought after by many festival shop customers. Selling well at a variety of pop-up shop locations, including the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Glastonbury, and WOMAD. Raising necessary income to contribute to Oxfam’s global work to eradicate poverty.

As a Cashmere Volunteer, you will have your own area to work in. From here you will grade second-hand cashmere jumpers and cardigans by brand, quality, colour, and size. There is an opportunity to repair any damaged cashmere, creating something saleable and unique. This could be anything from a simple mend to additional embellishment, to a more complicated embroidery. You will be helping contribute to our nothing-goes-to-landfill sustainable commitment.

You can create your own tags and labels so festival shop customers learn more about your sustainable work. This also provides an opening for you to share your social media/personal contact details for future projects outside of Oxfam.

You can document every step of your volunteering project, making it a perfect addition to your CV and portfolio!

We will give you all the training and support you need so you will develop your skills as part of our team. Although, basic embroidery/upcycling skills are desirable for this role. You can also get some lunch and travel costs too. Whatever you need, we’re here to help.
